Dear Parents of Preschoolers, Thank you for considering Faith Lutheran’s Preschool Program. I have had the privilege of being the preschool teacher here at Faith Lutheran School since 2006. We have a wonderful school where young children excel in a learning environment grounded in Christianity. Preschoolers attend two days a week on either a Tuesday and Thursday schedule, or on a Wednesday and Friday schedule. The program also offers both morning and afternoon classes. First and foremost— our preschool is tailored toward three and four year olds with the goal of helping them grow socially and emotionally as students. Classroom sizes are limited to fourteen students per class to ensure all children receive the benefit of one-on-one learning. At Faith Lutheran School, your child will acquire a foundation of skills, from an educational standpoint as well as social that will prepare your child for future learning. Class time is spent rotating between free-choice periods and more structured activities. Each school day includes an art activity, music and singing, group “circle time”, books read aloud by the teacher, outdoor play, and “Jesus Time”. Additionally, there is ample time for children to play and learn through imagination and interaction with others. Academically, our preschoolers are generally very diverse in regard to what they have already learned. We ensure our children are introduced to shapes, colors, patterns, letters, numbers, counting, and basic handwriting skills. Classroom activities are also structured so children will be able to improve upon their fine motor skills. Preschool at Faith Lutheran also includes many special events such as our Thanksgiving Feast, a Christmas program, Valentines Day party, and a special Family Day program at the end of the year. Your child will also attend three field trips: the pumpkin patch, the district fire station, and Lattin’s Cider Mill. At Faith Lutheran School, your child will be at the center of it all. In class, the children take turns being the “Special Helper” of the day. The Special Helper provides the healthy snack for the class, chooses what to bring for show-and-tell, is the line leader throughout the day, and does other helpful jobs for the class. These are important activities to assist your child in learning how to properly share and to work well with fellow classmates. As you know, there is no more important decision then finding the right school and learning environment for your child. Please do not hesitate to call me at (360) 491-1733 if you have any questions regarding the preschool program. Thank you again for seriously considering enrolling your child here at Faith Lutheran School. Blessings, Mrs. Cindy McCreary Preschool Teacher |
