We have our monthly Youth Night on Tuesday, Feb 9th from
7:00pm-8:00pm. It looks there are now basketball hoops so I
will go pick up a basketball that is just for the youth.
Hoping we raise enough money from Family Fun Night to get a
TV to put up in there as well. I just recently purchased a
white board, cork board, and some blankets for the room and
I am going back to Wal-Mart to get some bean bags as well.
We need more ping pong balls too! =)
I'm also scheduling bowling for Saturday, Feb 27th. Times
to be announced, more than likely in the evening. I'm
looking into glow bowling and will need to reserve a couple
of lanes.
Looking ahead here are some tentative items on our agenda.
All times will be announced later:
Feb 24th--Hosting Advent Dinner (parent volunteer to help
organize a meal?)
Mar 10th--Hosting Advent Dinner (parent volunteer to help
organize a meal?)
March 19-20th--Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser (more
information to come...may need parent drivers for this one!)
April 3rd--Assist with Easter Egg Hunt & Set Up for Easter
Breakfast
April 4th--Easter Breakfast
May--Possible Crab feed TBD
May--Go Kart Racing TBD
June--Graduation recognition
July--Youth Gathering in New Orleans
July--Trinity Lutheran Camp
July--VBS (not sure on dates)
There will be more information about the above events coming
out as we get closer to the dates. I also called Sally to
get in touch with Sara Kunkel to find out how our youth can
do some outreach to the kids at Children's Hospital.
In regards to the Crab Feed, I mentioned the idea to Sally
and she was thinking it would be a good event for the youth
and the congregation to organize to raise additional funds
and split. I want to be able to hold one event a year that
goes to our high school seniors in the congregation to
assist with money for college. I will be asking parents to
provide some information regarding their son/daughter as we
get closer to the date as well. I want the congregation to
know what plans our youth have in store for their future and
to keep them in prayer.
Another outreach project I am looking into for the youth to
participate in is with children with special needs. My
father worked (and still does) as a manager to group homes
for adults with special needs. It's an outreach that I feel
is often overlooked not only in the public community but
also in the spiritual community of the church. I'm still
working out some details regarding this outreach project so
be on the lookout for more information.
Enough for now...more to follow later! =)
I would LOVE any help that anyone can offer with any of the
above dates.
In His Service,
Christa
